Verdi Technology Associates, LLC (VTA) was founded and incorporated in 2001 based in Verdi, Nevada USA. The company's headquarters are presently located in Reno, Nevada USA.
VTA's unique combination of skill, experience, and ingenuity in the disciplines of occupational medicine, information technology, and statistics have been applied to forge innovative, practical information solutions to complex occupational and environmental health challenges.
Between 2001 and 2007, VTA developed and marketed commercial and research software applications for epidemiological and statistical investigation of indoor building environmental and energy efficiency research, in part through its participation in a multi-year research study conducted by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas via funding by the US Department of Energy.
Development of the webOSCAR software began in 2008 and has culminated in its commercial introduction in 2011.

The Founders and Key Personnel

James Craner, MD, MPH, FACOEM, FACP has practiced Occupational Medicine since 1993, based in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada USA.
Dr. Craner received a bachelor's degree (BA) in chemistry (magna cum laude) from Princeton University. He received his doctorate of medicine (MD) degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Craner completed an Internal Medicine residency at Rhode Island Hospital (Brown University School of Medicine), followed by an Occupational and Environmental Medicine residency at the New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ) and Rutgers University, where he also completed his Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. He is board-certified in Occupational Medicine and Internal Medicine, and serves as an assistant clinical professor in Occupational Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine.
Dr. Craner's successful clinical and consultation practice focuses on hazardous industries and occupations. He conducts employee medical surveillance examinations, biological monitoring, respiratory protection evaluations and audiograms, and provides health and safety consultation, training, hazard assessment, and other aspects of regulatory compliance (OSHA, MSHA) to a range of companies and public agencies. His insight into the complex challenges these organizations face in managing information for their health-based compliance programs provided the inspiration and impetus for the creation of the webOSCAR software.

Stuart Alderman has over 25 years experience as an Information Technology (IT) professional, based in California and in Reno, Nevada USA.
Mr. Alderman received his bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. His career started in mechanical design of manufacturing equipment and composite material product development. Shortly after computer technology emerged in the early 1980's, Mr. Alderman applied his engineering skills to software engineering, starting with the implementation of the first electronic manufacturing information system (MIS) at Reno-based International Game Technology (IGT), and afterword in systems development and sales for Unisys. For the past 15 years, he has run his own software development consulting firm and Verdi Technology Associates.
Mr. Alderman specializes in developing large-scale, web-based data management systems that deliver and manage complex, inter-related data for a variety of end users. His expertise in database design, Web technology, and massively parameter-driven software has led to the creation of numerous applications in the fields of occupational and environmental health, epidemiology, building science, health care, and human resources.

Neil Willits, PhD is the Senior Statistician in the Division of Statistics at the University of California, Davis USA. He has served as the statistics consultant to VTA since its inception.
Dr. Willits graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelor's of science (BS) degree in mathematics, and received his MS and PhD in Statistics from Stanford University. He has worked in the Statistics Laboratory at UC Davis for over 25 years as a statistical consultant to academia, private industry, and government. Dr. Willits also teaches graduate and undergraduate statistics courses at UC Davis.
Dr. Willits' expertise in applied statistics has led to his participation and publications in a range of disciplines, including numerous medical, environmental, and pubic health research and commercial applications. He has been instrumental in the creation and implementation of the statistical analysis components of VTA's software applications, including webOSCAR.
